Snæfellsnes in Spanish with lunch included at a farm - Minibus

Visit western Iceland with us on this mystical full-day tour to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula.

To make your experience unique and personal, we offer you the possibility to travel in small groups with a maximum of 19 passengers.

Throughout this tour of Snæfellsnes (also known as “Iceland in miniature”), we will contemplate a great diversity of landscapes. This is an area of exceptional geological beauty: craters, glaciers, lava fields, idyllic hidden coves, black sand beaches and strange rock formations that are

waiting to be explored and discovered.

Having picked up all our passengers, we will drive out of Reykjavik in a north-west direction and head towards the magnificent Snæfellsjökull glacier, which sits on an active stratovolcano of the same name; the summit is covered by brilliant perpetual snows that are visible from Reykjavík Bay, on days when the good weather accompanies the island. This place, with all its splendor, served as the setting for Jules Verne's science fiction novel, “Journey to the Center of the Earth”. The volcano is believed to harbor mystical powers and many consider it to be one of the seven main energy centers on Earth, so don't be surprised if you experience an inexplicable flow of spiritual energy

while you're nearby.

On the way there, countless lunar landscapes, waterfalls, lakes and rivers, rocky coasts and small fishing villages await us that capture the true essence and beauty of this spectacular island.

First of all, we will visit Ytri Tunga, a beautiful beach that hosts a colony of seals for most of the year (especially in the summer months).

Next, we will enjoy a tasty home-cooked meal at the Lýsuhóll farm, where we will also visit the stables to meet the Icelandic horse.

Our next discovery will be the curious black church of Buðir. This old village is located within the Búðahraun lava field and has a natural harbor that made this place the most important commercial center on the peninsula, during the Danish commercial monopoly in the 17th and 18th centuries. This church is one of the few black churches in the country, painted with tar to protect the wood from the harsh climatic conditions of Iceland. It has been declared a national monument

.

The coast of Arnarstapi and Hellnar is dotted with rock formations and spectacular cliffs. We will take a walk to observe the basalt columns, the arches, the caves and the canyons; we will also have the opportunity to see a large number of seabirds, especially Arctic terns. Our walk will end at the statue of the giant Bardur, half troll and half man, who according to the sagas chose this place

to found his home.

We will also stop at the black sand beach of Djupalónssandur, another of the peculiar places we will visit on this day. The remains of a shipwreck that took place in 1948 and the four smooth stones at the entrance to the beach, of different sizes, are striking. They were used to measure the strength of the sailors who worked on these coasts and their salaries were determined accordingly

.

Our next stop will be Kirkjufell, possibly the most picturesque and most photographed mountain in the country. Surrounded by streams and small waterfalls, it was chosen to represent Arrowhead in Game of Thrones. Not far from there, we will pass by two fishing villages called Grunðarfjorður and Ólafsvík, known for receiving countless visits from orcas and seals; don't forget to look at the sea, because this stretch is the best in the country to see these animals from the

shore.

Finally, we will be surprised by the beautiful Selvallafoss (Sheep Waterfall, so known because it is often chosen as a place of shelter for these animals). From there we will enjoy wonderful views of Lake Selvallavatn and the immense lava field on the other side of

it.

Local legends and popular stories abound and are an essential element of this multifaceted journey.
